A short conversation with Senior QA, Sam Ng. I am married and live in West Derby, Liverpool. It is close to Liverpool’s old training ground Melwood, I am a big Liverpool fan. Very happy to see them finally win the league. I like playing badminton and enjoy reading, especially Fantasy and Sci-Fi.
Tell us a little about yourself.
We have just had a baby girl so at the moment I am enjoying spending time at home with my family.
What are you looking forward to doing most when lockdown eases?
Travelling. I am looking forward to planning trips again as this has been hold, I enjoy going to the Canary Islands so will be making plans soon.
In a sentence what is the purpose of your role?
Senior QA role is seen as gate keeper to ensure quality in what we do in Technology. People may think this is testing software but it is through the whole process. I am always trying to think about the customer voice, and how they will be affected by any change. I look at it from a customer perspective.
What does your role involve in terms of tasks and activities?
Ensuring quality throughout the process. specific tasks include: look at results in the morning of the overnight tests to determine if there were any issues. Review and determine if any changes tested overnight may have
What do you enjoy most about your role?
A mixture of problem solving and trying to figure out how things work or may work. Considering how it could be broken by identifying gaps/ holes before a customer does. The collaboration part of work is really enjoyable it’s not a solitary role – as a tester you are getting others perspectives including other QA, Developers (to understand what they have done and how the system works).
