Flintshire County Council Reduces Rent Arrears by Over £170,000 with RentSense
Flintshire County Council has achieved remarkable success in reducing rent arrears by over £170,000, thanks to Mobysoft’s RentSense platform. The council, which manages around 7,300 social housing properties across the North-East of Wales, has significantly improved its arrears management despite challenging economic factors like the ongoing cost of living crisis and the implementation of Universal Credit.
In the last year, Flintshire’s rent arrears have decreased by 8.5%, to 4.5%—down from 5.1% the previous year—marking the lowest arrears figures since 2021. The RentSense platform has enabled the council to take early, proactive action on arrears cases, helping tenants manage their payments more effectively while reducing the need for court actions and evictions.
“We’ve seen a massive reduction in arrears,” said Carwyn Jones, Rent Collection Team Leader at Flintshire County Council.
“By being able to pinpoint which tenants need support early, we’ve been able to reduce arrears by over £170,000. The system allows us to get to tenants quicker, and it’s much easier to collect £500 than £5,000. This proactive approach has been key to supporting our tenants and managing our caseload more effectively.”

The council has also seen a dramatic reduction in evictions, with only one eviction carried out in 2024–2025, compared to previous years when evictions were a more common outcome. The system’s ability to identify and manage arrears early has reduced the volume of cases needing legal intervention and helped to sustain tenancies, improving both staff and tenant satisfaction.
Adam Gray, Mobysoft Regional Director (Wales & Midlands), added, “Flintshire County Council’s success is a prime example of how RentSense can transform arrears management. By improving efficiency and focusing resources on the cases that truly need attention, Flintshire has achieved impressive results, and we’re proud to be part of that journey. Their reduction in arrears, alongside the decrease in evictions, highlights the power of early intervention and data-driven decision-making.”
